The winters may be bitter on the eastern side of the country, but the diehard skaters figure it out one way or another. Some retreat to indoor skateparks, while others suck it up and bomb hills in the freezing cold anyways. Joey Nickell is one such skater.

Just because it’s cold outside and there is snow on the ground. It doesn’t stop Joey from shredding. As long as the road is clear, he is out bombing hills and burning thane.
Joey rides for Abec 11 Wheels, Jet Skateboards, ADX Apparel, Edge Boardshop, and Holesom Pucks. Living in New York, he skates some fun runs with his homies.

Born in Chicago and raised on the flat Canadian prairies, it wasn’t until moving to Ontario for school in 2005 that Justus got a taste for riding skateboards down hills. Since then it’s been a bit of an obsession. He graduated with a degree in Film Studies, but spent as much time focussed on skateboarding as he did on studying. Now he’s living the good life in Oakland, California, riding his motorcycle and working as Editor-in-chief for Skate[Slate].
