Details:

Since its establishment, BigMountainSkate became well known for their freeride events that take part in Austria and Slovenia, like KnK Longboard Camp, Alpenrauschen and Bela Joyride.

After getting positive feedback from fellow skaters, BigMountainSkate decided to introduce three new longboard events; Arico – El Bueno – a freeride on the island Tenerife, No Man’s Land – 8 km endurance freeride in Slovenia and King’s Gate – an IDF WC race in Austria.

ARICO – EL BUENO

Freeride / Tenerife – Spain
March 20th – 24th, 2017

The first event of the 2017 BigMountainSkate season is the well anticipated Arico – El Bueno freeride in the end of March. While most people will still live on winter time, others will have the chance to enjoy the downhill skateboarding paradise known as the island Tenerife.

The Arico – El Bueno track is 3.2 km long and leads up to the village that gave the event its name. Numerous corners, smooth pavement and a breathtaking view over the Atlantic ocean is something you should expect while skating down the track with the top speed of 70 km/h.

To create the perfect holiday vibe, 120 attendees will be able enjoy their stay in an Ecovillaclub close to the beach, the track and not so distant from the bar.

Arico – El Bueno is really the perfect no-stress longboard season opener that will give you a chance to stretch your legs after the long and cold winter.

The registration for Arico – El Bueno Freeride already started via BigMountainSkate’s website. The registration fee is 250 Euros, plus additional 40 Euros for the accommodation.

ALPENRAUSCHEN

All of the 180 riders will stay in an Alpine hotel located 1700 meters above sea level, right next to the starting line. Furthermore, after a day of non-stop action, BMS will also pamper skaters with an awesome mini-ramp right in front of the hotel and with evening parties.

In contrary to El Bueno’s summery vibe, Alpenrauschen offers an alpine retreat for nature lovers. Breathing in the fresh air and enjoying evenings by the fire are the essence of longboard trips.

A registration fee, which includes accommodation, is 189 Euros. Registration will open on Sunday, February 5th at 8:00 PM CET, via the BigMountainSkate website.

KNK LONGBOARD CAMP

Freeride & Race in Slovenia
Week #1, July 24th – 29th, 2017 & Week #2, August 1st – 6th, 2017

The well known and loved ultimate skate vacation will take place in the end of July and beginning of August. KnK Longboard Camp has been present and has been hosting a major part of the European longboard community since 2009.

The Bear’s Guts track is a 4 km long beauty carved into a mountain in the wildest part of Slovenia. With the smoothest pavement around, it offers a consistent ride from top to bottom without any changes in the roads surface.

The 18 hairpins of the Bear’s Guts track make it the perfect surrounding for learning and improving freeride skills. It is also the reason every year a wide variety of skaters want to join this freeride. Beginner or pro, everybody is welcome to join.

The accommodation is flexible and relaxed. Offering multiple choices from camping, which is included in the registration fee, staying in a hotel room or bugging out in a dorm with your friends, riders can choose their preference and enjoy this 6 day freeride without a care in the world.

Every year the KnK crew strives to make the best event possible with hard work and added fun. No matter what week you’re on, the 1st or the 2nd, you can also take part in a nice and relaxed race with your friends.

Red Bull No Paws Down World Championship – Week #1
The first week of KnK Longboard Camp is notorious for the Red Bull No Paws Down World Championship race. Making the event even more challenging, the number one rule of the No Paws Down race is; no touching the ground with your hands while sliding.

Charging down the Bear’s Guts with a top speed of 80 km/h is challenging enough, but doing it fully stand-up is a true hard core game. The money prize fund for the race is 1,800 Euros.

Cult Single Set Survivors race – week #2
Second week of KnK Longboard Camp will host a different kind of race. With a standard race format, the Cult Single Set Survivors race has a twist. All riders are allowed to only use one set of wheels for the entire race.

Racers will have the option of getting a set of their favourite Cult wheels at a special price. It’s up to the riders to choose their preferred set for racing, whether it’s their own wheels or the Cult wheels. The funds collected from the wheels sale will go the winners of the race.

Registration fee for this 6-day full freeride is 220 Euros and it includes staying at the campsite. Registration will open via BigMountainSkate website on Sunday, January 29th at 8:00 PM CET.

BELA JOYRIDE

Freeride in Austria
August 23rd – 26th, 2017

Towards the end of August it’s time for another freeride in southern Austria. The Bella Joyride will take place on the same track as usual, right on the border between Slovenia and Austria.

Bella Joyride features a 6 km long road with a big variety of corners. What makes it special is also the gradient, technical demanding banked hairpins and a top speed of 75 km/h.

The riders limit is set to 220 skaters that will enjoy 10 minute long pack runs in a chill environment. After all, the name says it all, it’s a “joyride”.

At the end of the day skating, riders are shuttled down to the campsite on a big soccer field. Right next to a crystal clear Vellach river, a hut at the camping spot will also offer meals and drinks.

Every evening, entertainment will be provided. A mini ramp will be placed at the campsite for those who still have a bit of extra energy left.

Registration fee for Bela Joyride is 177 Euros and it includes staying at the campsite. Registration will open via BigMountainSkate website on Sunday, April 2nd at 8:00 PM CET.
