He's a hard man to get a hold of but Skate Slate got lucky. Dave Leslie is responsible for filming and editing more videos for longboarding more than anyone out there. Years before Dave partnered with Landyachtz Longboards, Dave created grass roots videos for the early Coast Longboarding years. Being a long time friend of Bricin Lyons, Dave aka "Guff" worked alongside "Striker" to make some of the most hardcore videos, always with some hilariousness and moments that got you out of your seat. Always the man behind the scenes but giving just as much as any rider out there. At the end of a hard day of racing, the riders grab their most convenient bevvy, but for Dave, he's still filming the podium celebration.
Up until recently, Leslie has worked solo on mostly all his projects, but will this still go on?
It's a long day for filmer anticipating that perfect shot. Without further a due, we present to you the Filmer Interview Series. A look at some EXTREMELY dedicated dudes. We thought Dave's 10 years of experience was a good guy to start with.
PAPE Why did you get into filming?
LESLEY It's something I've always done with friends and skating. It's a way to be creative.
PAPE How many years have you been making vids?
LESLEY Since I was a kid, stealing my parents VHS cam.
PAPE When did you know that Filming was something you would do for this many years?
LESLEY I never really knew. I just kept doing it. Just like skating, i never knew how long I'd be into it. I enjoyed it, so I stuck with it.
PAPE What have you been working lately?
LESLEY Just finished the new Coast Longboarding Evolutions video. I got a couple eh team videos in the works too.

PAPE Who do you make videos for?
LESLEY I make them for folks who want to be entertained and people with short attention spans, like myself.
PAPE If you could tell us 1 video that stands out as the most memorable, what video would it be and why?
LESLEY Probably one of the coast videos. Making those videos is always intense. 2007 or 2006

Teddie Shreddie Launches off a dock at an oldy, but goody Coast Event
PAPE What do you like more? Editing or Filming?
LESLEY Right now it's summer so I enjoy being outside in the sun filming. Winter time I don't mind being cooped up in the dungeon wasting away in front of the computer.
PAPE What’s your plans for the near future? Do you want to work with any filmers in particular? (or do you look up to any filmers, i.e. Inspirations)
LESLEY Get out of the country and check out some other scenes. There are lots of talented people out there making videos. I'm open to anything, I love working as a team.
PAPE I hears a rumour about new McGoldrick Short Vid? Can you tell us about that at all or is that top secret?
LESLEY There is something in the works. I'll just say that Mike is up against his toughest opponent to date.
PAPE Where do you get all your music?
LESLIE The local top 40 radio station
PAPE Who do you like working with the best? (riders)
LESLIE Anyone who's stoked on filming and has some input. Oh and people that love hiking.
Adam Yates from Team Landyachtz is sure to be seen in Guff's Next Video
PAPE If you could work with any rider you choose? Who would it be? (Outside of who you’ve already worked with)
LESLEY Maybe some DH riders, like Scoot or Woody. That or Bart Simpson, his skating doesn't get nearly enough coverage as it should.
PAPE How old are you? What’s your favourite cereal?
LESLEY 9429 days old and I eat robots for breakfast
