The much anticipated video by Adam Colton & Adam Stokowkski featuring the new Otangs is finally upon us. Featuring the skateboard stylings of Kyle Chin and Ethan Cochard, it's a shot of adrenaline straight to the eyeballs! Moreover, Adam and Adam explore some new filming territory, eschewing the pan and tilt style that they popularized for an upbeat, cut heavy style. Behold!!!:
The all new Orangatang Balut freeride wheels are dropping this Thursday, so we got RJ Roush to take them for a little test drive.
Balut is on the menu tonight, a slippery slidey new treat served up from the premier chefs at Orangatang. Now, normally I don’t question the naming process that leads to their new products, but I found this one especially interesting. After all, how exactly does one compare a boiled duck embryo to a fancy new slide wheel? The only likening I could muster between the two is if you squint your eyes real hard-like and look at the 83a purple duro (this is the one I tested), it kind of looks like one…yea? Maybe it tastes like one too, but I’ll leave that for you folks to find out.
This might not be directly related to downhill, but... The next generation of the often loved, sometimes reviled camera is here. The GoPro Hero 2 is better in almost all of its technical capabilities than its predecessor. Like any piece of gear, it's only as good as the talents of the person using it. The ease of use of the popular camera has made it easy for bad skaters to flood the internets with terrible, long videos of themselves. On the other hand, it's small size and versatility have allowed more talented and creative filmmakers and riders to get some cool footage that might not be possible otherwise. Moral of the story? Talented folks have a new tool to play with and noobs can continue to indulge themselves by filming their noses as they learn to pendy on their driveways. (Pro tip: If you find yourself regularly uploading videos of raw runs, try shooting some other angles. It's easy and will make your video much, much better.)
The above video may not have any skate footage in it, but it does show what's possible when you have a bombproof camera, some creative inspiration and a few talented athletes in front of the lens.
